7 Streams Curriculum

What elements characterize a fully-formed disciple of Christ? We know you can’t reduce the life of a Christian to some simple formula, but we believe that a number of factors must come together to both catalyze and foster growth in discipleship. We call these factors, or values, The 7 Streams.

This growing and changing list of resources is here to help you learn to believe (in thoughts, passions and actions) the truth of the Gospel.

The Gospel Soil Bible Reading Plan is a tool we’ve designed to help you grow as a disciple of Christ. Based on the renowned Robert Murray M’Cheyne system, these readings will take you through the whole Bible in two years, at a pace that’s manageable. With Don Carson’s modified version of the M’Cheyne plan, you’ll read the New Testament and Psalms twice and the Old Testament once.

At GospelSoil.com, you’ll find tools to listen to daily readings, helpful devotional thoughts from Don Carson, opportunities to post comments/questions/insights, Bible study resources as well as a calendar with each daily reading. We hope that this tool will equip and encourage you to grow as a true disciple of Christ, rooted and grounded in rich gospel soil!

The River West Daily Word Bible reading plan is a tool we’ve designed to help you get the most out of God’s Word each day. Based on a book-at-a-time plan from Discipleship Journal, these readings will take you through the entire Bible in a year at a pace that’s manageable. Each month consists of only 24-25 readings. To prevent you from getting bogged down or falling behind, we’ve built in days off where you can catch up on missed readings and reflect on passages you’ve read throughout the week. In order to read through the entire Bible in a year, each day you will read 3-6 chapters. This should take you about 15-20 minutes. Instead of reading the Bible straight through this plan will take you through one book of the Old and New Testament at a time. Readings from Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, and the Gospels are spread throughout the year.

Advent 2011

The days leading up to Christmas are filled with distractions. There are presents to buy, parties to attend, dinners to plan, cards to send, family to see, songs to sing, movies to watch, and traditions to follow. We need help to cut through the many distractions of the Christmas season if we are to focus our attention on Jesus.

This devotional is designed to help you do that—with others. Perhaps there is no better time than Advent to gather with family and friends of all ages and talk about Jesus. Advent helps us refocus and regain a sense of wonder as we look forward to the full-out celebration of God‘s amazing love shown by the gift of his Son.

When we celebrate Advent, we are joining millions of Jesus‘ followers around the world in preparing spiritually for Christmas. Do not let the simple glory of the Advent season pass you by this year.
